Federation University Australia has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence in higher education, after achieving top ratings in a number of fields in the 2025 Good Universities Guide ratings.

Federation maintains its position as the top university nationally for first in family enrolments, while also leading numerous higher education categories both nationally and across the state in validation of Federation's position as a leading institution in Australia in supporting new graduates to be job-ready through its Co-operative Education Model.

For the seventh consecutive year, Federation has been rated the number one university in Australia for First-Generation Student Enrolments, with 50 per cent of the University’s cohort being the first in their family to take the step into higher education.

This year, Federation University also scored the highest, five-star ranking for Skills Development with 83 per cent of undergraduates positively rating their skills development while studying at Federation.

With a core purpose of transforming lives and enhancing communities, Federation also maintained its number one ranking in Victoria for social equity for students, as well as student to teacher ratio.

The results also highlighted Federation’s strength in certain disciplines, with the University being ranked number one in Australia for Overall Education Experience for undergraduates in Science and Mathematics, Social Work, Creative Arts, and Law & Paralegal Studies.

The achievements in the 2025 Good Universities Guide follow significant improvement in this year’s Times Higher Education World University Rankings, where Federation was just one of four Australian universities to improve its rating, moving up into the top 401 – 500 universities globally.
