Federation University Australia is celebrating the success of 500 graduates with ceremonies at its Gippsland Campus and Bunjil Place this week.

The students are among 1500 across the university’s campuses to mark the education milestone in front of family, friends and their classmates this month, following two years of adapting to new ways of learning during the global pandemic.

Among the Gippsland graduates is University Medallist Julie Marriott who completed a Bachelor of Community and Human Services, achieving a perfect GPA of 7.00.

Julie received commendations from the Dean of the School of Arts for outstanding academic achievement in five semesters of her studies and excelled during placements at Positive Minds Gippsland and Newborough East Primary School, also becoming a student mentor to her peers.

This commitment led to Julie securing employment with Anglicare Victoria even before her final semester, where she works on the TRAK Forward program supporting women and their children who have experienced family violence.

Among the Berwick graduates is Kanzah Fatima who has completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Federation’s Berwick Campus and has secured work at an accounting firm.

Kanzah delivered a speech to her peers during one of the ceremonies at Bunjil Place and said the group had come “so far”, particularly studying throughout the pandemic.
