Accomodation (Off Campus)

Need advice on choosing where to live?

We get it, it’s a tricky process to find a home away from home. Here are some of your options:

FedLiving

  • Live on campus.
  • Safe and secure.
  • Multiple room options.

Make campus your home.

Rent privately - Off-campus

  • We recommend you choose somewhere close to campus to reduce travel costs.

Here are some options:

Renting through a real estate agent

Renting through a local real estate agent is competitive in Australia and can take a long time. If you do choose to live off-campus, make sure that you have somewhere to stay while you look for a rental.

Properties for rent are advertised on realestate.com.au  and domain.com.au, and it is expected that you view the property before applying to rent it. We also suggest that you make appointments with local real estate agents to introduce yourself in person.

See this Guide to what to include in a rental application for more information

Shared accommodation

Shared accommodation is where you rent one room in a house, and share other areas such as living room, kitchen and bathroom. You can either join up with friends and apply for the same rental property as a group, or you can rent a room in an established rental.

Advertisements for shared accommodation can be found on:

If you are looking at shared accommodation, make sure:

  • the person renting the room has permission from their landlord to do so
  • you have a written agreement, stating the amount of rent and minimum length of stay, and
  • everyone in the house agrees to house rules such as cleaning and cooking.

Don't fall for scams! Always view a property and have a written agreement before you pay rent or bond.
