International Student Driving Experience Program

Australia's a (really) big country and being able to drive makes life easier. But did you know, if you’re an international student your overseas driving licence is only valid for six months? After that, you'll need to convert it to a Victorian one. Don't worry, our International Student Driving Experience Program will make the process much simpler. It'll give you the knowledge, confidence and skills to get behind the wheel.

Why take the program

Victoria has a great public transport system but there's nothing like having the freedom to go wherever you want. Without checking a timetable.

But driving in a new country can be a bit stressful. New road rules. A different way of driving.

Plus your overseas licence is only valid in Australia for six months. After that, you’ll need to convert it to a Victorian one. That usually means sitting a knowledge test, a hazard perception test and sometimes a practical driving test too. The specific requirements depend on your age, the country your licence was issued in and how long you've been driving.

That’s why we’ve developed this program. It’s specially designed for international students to help make converting your licence easier.

We’ll give you all the information you need to drive safely and confidently. You’ll get to practice driving on Australian roads with an experienced driver in one of our cars. And step-by-step support to help you convert your licence.

This program has been funded by the Study Melbourne Inclusion Program (SMIP).
