Online learning and support
We’re expecting all students who are fully vaccinated or medically exempt to join us on campus for their studies.
Whatever your vaccination status, including if you are neither fully vaccinated nor medically exempt, you should submit your vaccination status so that we can supply tailored information about what study options are available to you. If you have had one dose, wait to submit until you are fully vaccinated.
Your vaccination status may impact how you study. Most of our courses will continue to offer an online option, however placements and some experiential learning can only be done in person.
Online learning options
Fully vaccinated and medically exempt students can access both in person and online modes. If you are neither fully vaccinated nor medically exempt, you are only eligible to access online studies and services.
If you are a higher education student you can self-manage your online study by enrolling in courses that meet the requirements of your program and are available online. Many courses will continue to be offered online, as well as in person.
When completing your enrolment in MyStudentCentre search for the course you would like to enrol in and select the option that lists its location as 'online'. If an online location is not available you will need to enrol in another course.
You can contact Student HQ to discuss your study options if:
- none of your courses are available online
- you have experiential or work integrated learning that connot be completed online
- you are required to complete a placement as part of your program.
If you are onshore, you must attend campus as a condition of your visa unless there are government guidelines in place restricting in-person study, for example a lockdown.
If you are offshore, you can continue to study via online delivery until you are able to obtain a visa and return to campus.
Your vaccination status may affect your ability to meet the conditions of your visa or your program completion date and you should contact Student HQ to discuss your options.
Federation TAFE students should contact the Program Support Administrative Officer for their area to discuss online study options.
If you attend a workplace as part of studies, you must also meet the vaccination requirements of your industry and follow the health and safety policy of your workplace. Your vaccination status may impact your course completion date and you should contact the Program Support Administration Officer of your area to discuss your options.
Research students should contact Student HQ to discuss their options.
If you study with a partner institution, please follow their direction with regard to attending their campuses. You will not be able to attend Federation University campuses to access services but can continue to do so online.
You may have to complete placements, workplace training, experiential activities or work integrated learning as part of your studies.
These activities require in-person attendance, with proof of vaccination or medical exemption needed for many industries as well as Federation University programs. If you are neither fully vaccinated nor medically exempt your vaccination status may affect your course or program completion date. You should contact Student HQ to discuss your options.
Accessing services and support
If you are neither fully vaccinated nor medically exempt you are not permitted to access our services on campus. You can continue to access the library, student IT, course advice, and other services online.
