2019 Student Diary Cover Design Competition

The Annual Student Diary Cover Design Competition is open for the 2019 diaries.

The anual design competition gives students the opportunity to showcase their talents, build their portfolio, get involved in student life and be rewarded for their creativity by designing the student diary cover.

Prize: This is a unique opportunity for students to have their creaive work published, and win $500 Gift Cards in the process!

FedUni is proudly offering this opportunity for all Federation University students in 2018 - we need your creativity!

Students are invited to submit their designs for the opportunity to be published on 11,000 student diaries. There are no set guidelines for the artwork, it can be illustrations, photography, graphics, infographics, typography, art, paint or sketches.. absolutely anything!

Artwork specifics are as follows:

Please consider using this PDF template (pdf, 98kb) or EPS file (721kb) to assist you in crafting your design within the following brief parameters:

  1. Designs should reflect the theme “Getting Connected
  2. Only one design per student should be submitted.
  3. Include the words "Student Diary 2019" in the design.
  4. A5 size design - 148mm W x 210mm H + 5mm bleed at high resolution .PDF for print (300dpi or higher). Four colour process (CMYK). All type must be outlined.
  5. Allow for 10mm area on the left which will have holes punched through it for spiral binding and artwork must account for logos on the bottom, space of 15mm.
  6. Designs may include 2D design, graphic, photography, photographs of other art works including sculpture, pottery, textiles etc that will reflect the theme.
  7. Cannot contain any offensive and/or derogatory images or text.
Designs and Entry Forms must be submitted by 5pm, 21st September 2018 to be in the running.

By entering the Student Diary cover competition (Promotion), the entrant agrees to the following Terms and Conditions:

In these terms and Conditions, federation University Australia is referred to as 'FedUni' and each entrant is referred to as 'you'.

All information on 'how to enter' forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By submitting an entry into the Promotion, you warrant that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions.

The Promoter is Federation University Australia (ABN: 51 818 692 256, CRICOS Provider No. 00103D, RTO code 4909) PO Box 663, Ballarat, Victoria 3353.

The Promotion commences on 28 August 2018 at 9am (AEDT) and will continue until 21 September 2018 at 5pm (AEDT) (the 'Promotion Period').

Eligibility

You must be an individual, and not a company or other entity and hold Australian citizenship or a valid student visa.

You must be a Federation University Australia student.

You may enter only one piece in the Promotion.

The work must bean original piece produced by you and any elements contained within must be created by you.

If your work contains people, you must have obtained a signed 'model release form' from all people identified in your work. The release must clearly provide the model's consent to the work being used in any publication (including websites, diaries, merchandise and associated marketing) by FedUni.

All artwork must be able to be replicated on CMYK off-set printing process (eg. vector or at least 300dpi pdf)

Incomplete, illegible or incorrect entries containing offensive or defamatory comments, or which breach any law or infringe any third party rights, including intellectual property rights, will not be eligible to win.

How to enter

Artwork must be submitted as a 148mm W x210mm H plus 5mm bleed high resolution (300dpi or higher) PDF image as per design brief.

To submit an entry, you must email your artwork to srsmith@uni.federation.edu.au along with your name, course and short statement about you work and how it represents the theme 'Getting Connected'.

You agree and acknowledge

By entering into the Promotion, you agree and acknowledge that:
FedUni may use your entry and your personal information, including your name, likeness and photograph/s (whether or not it wins a prize) for FedUni's promotional and publicity purposes;

FedUni may send you information and marketing communications;

You grant to FedUni on submission of piece of artwork a royalty free, perpetual, exclusive and irrevocable licence to use the artwork for the purposes of Promotion;

FedUni accepts no responsibility for any entries not received for an reason during the Promotion Period. No responsibility will be taken for lost, late or misdirected entries. FedUni is not responsible for technical difficulities with the entry mechanism and does not warrant that the entry mechanism will be available at all times.

Final use of the winning entry may be adapted or altered to suit FedUni branding requirements upon consultation with the winner.

Winning the prize

Finalists will be selected from the entries by a professional panel.

The winning entry will be voted from the finalists between 24th September and 15th October 2018.

The winning entry will be notified by FedUni Student Connect via email or Facebook by 5pm, 15th October 2018 (AEDT).

The winner's name and entry may be published on the FedUni Current Students Facebook page and shared on other FedUni approved social media pages.

The winner will receive $500.00 in the form of VISA Debit Cards.

The prize is not transferable or exchangeable.

In all matters, all decisions of FedUni and its judges will be final and cannot be contested. No correspondence or discussions will be entered into.

*The Australian institute of Professional Photographers may also be a resource for advice on model release forms, however it is strongly advised you consult a specialist arts solicitor. Student Connect will require a copy of your release form.
