Studies Impacted (SI) grade
What is an SI grade?
The SI (Studies Impacted) grade was introduced for Semester 1, 2020 and is issued in place of a fail grade, except in circumstances where a second charge of plagiarism or academic misconduct has resulted in a fail grade being awarded. The SI grade acknowledges the disruption to studies caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and is not used towards the calculation of your GPA. A fee credit will be applied to your account when you repeat a course which received an SI grade. To be eligible, you must re-enrol and undertake the SI course within twelve months of the official results publication date for that term.
Do I need to pay to repeat a subject with an SI grade?
If you receive an SI (Studies Impacted) grade you will be given the opportunity to repeat this subject without charge – a fee credit will be applied to your account when you repeat the course with an SI grade. To be eligible, you must re-enrol and undertake the SI course within twelve months of the official results publication date for that term.
When will I see the fee credit on my account?
After you re-enrol in the SI grade course, you will see the tuition fee charge on your student account. If you enrol within the 12 month eligibility period a fee credit for the SI grade repeat course will be applied to your account prior to the census date of the semester you are studying the repeat course. Please be aware that you may receive a tax invoice from us before the fee credit is applied to your my Student Centre account. After the fee credit is applied you will be issued a further tax invoice/statement showing the updated balance owing.
