Learners will expand their engineering skills in hydraulic and pneumatic symbols, components and circuits. If learners have a trade or are looking to take the next step in their career, this course can be useful in both technical and management roles.

Global wind organisation standard

If learners are trade qualified, have a passion for the renewable energy sector, and have completed this course, they will be globally certified to work on a wind turbine as a technician.

Completing the course is the first step in a journey toward gaining employment in the renewable energy sector (Wind Generation). The course supports learners' already extensive knowledge with specific training relating to the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems found in a modern wind turbine.

Licensed vehicle (Motorcycle) refresher program

This course is designed to cover the current regulations and requirements of being an LVT Motorcycle examiner under the current VicRoads scheme. It includes administrative and technical knowledge, testing procedures, completion and understanding of documentation and the learner's role as a Licensed Vehicle Tester within Victoria.

Licensed vehicle (LVT) motorcycle program

This course covers the regulations and requirements of a VicRoads Licenced Vehicle Tester (LVT) motorcycle examiner, application documents and requirements to become an LVT (Motorcycle) Licensee and completion and understanding of all roadworthy related documentation.

This course covers the regulations and requirements of a VicRoads Licenced Vehicle Tester (LVT) vehicle examiner, application documents and requirements to become an LVT Licensee and completion and understanding of all roadworthy related documentation.

Machining for enthusiasts, hobbyists and beginners

This course will provide learners with practical skills in basic machining on lathes, milling machines and ancillary machines such as pedestal drills and grinders. Learners can bring in a proposal for their own projects and discuss their suitability with the lecturer. Examples of suitable projects might include metal craft work, hobby train or aeroplane projects. Project exceptions will include vehicle components and weapons. Learners will be required to wear personal protective clothing at all times in the practical workshop which includes steel capped safety boots, clear safety glasses, and coverall style overalls.

Machining for existing metal workers

This course will provide learners with practical skills in general machining on lathes, milling machines to supplement their existing Metal Worker or other trade skills. Participants will be trained in general machining and the use of commercial lathes and milling machines prior to putting their skills to use in the manufacture of their choice of project. Smaller custom projects will be considered by negotiation following course enrolment and conditional on obtaining sufficient foundation skills with machine use. Learners will be required to wear personal protective clothing at all times in the practical workshop which include steel capped safety boots, clear safety glasses, coverall style overalls.

Malting and brewing

The short program consists of a teaching mix of formal and informal discussions, university and industry lectures, practical brewing, sensory evaluation sessions, and field trips to one or more breweries.

Responsible service of alcohol (RSA)

This course is about minimising excessive alcohol consumption and therefore minimising the negative effects it can have on the community. It provides a strategy that involves all people in the industry. Skills include:

  • Selling and serving alcohol responsibly
  • Assisting customers to drink within appropriate limits
  • Assessing alcohol-affected customers and where required refusing service

This course meets the VCGLR's mandatory training requirements for staff selling, offering or serving liquor for general, on-premises, late night and packaged liquor licences.
