Care-leavers scholarships have been established to support former wards of the state or care-leavers. Applicants for a care-leavers scholarship must have been in continuous care for at least 12 months or more. This scholarship is open to all Australian students who have been in care or a state ward.
All applicants should complete KickStart to apply for a Foundation Scholarship or Bursary.
The selection panel will allocate students to the relevant named scholarships listed below.
How to apply
- Complete a KickStart registration;
- Complete the Foundation Additional Information Sheet; and
- Scan and attach your two written references to the Foundation Additional Information Sheet by the closing date. Written references should be from people (outside of your family) who can comment with knowledge about your circumstances, study history, commitment to furthering education and your personal qualities.
In 2019 four care-leavers scholarships are available:
Available for commencing Higher Education domestic, undergraduate (including honours) or postgraduate
Available for a Higher Education domestic undergraduate (including honours) or postgraduate student who has been in care, kinship care or a state ward for 12 months or more in the second or third year of their program.
Available for a domestic TAFE, VCAL or FAST student. Applicants for a care-leavers scholarship must have been in continuous care for at least 12 months or more.
