Justin Mohamed is a Gooreng Gooreng man who first graduated from University of Ballarat with a Diploma of Management in 2002 and then in 2004 with an Advanced Diploma of Business Management.
Justin maintains strong links to leading local Aboriginal organisations including the Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd where he began his professional career and worked for 13 years, starting as Juvenile Justice Worker before eventually becoming Chief Executive Officer. On his departure in 2005 he took on the role of inaugural Director at the Academy of Sport, Health and Education which had considerable success in Aboriginal youth re-engagement in education and employment. From 2014 to 2017 Justin was CEO of Reconciliation Australia, and in 2018 he was appointed Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People of Victoria, a position he still holds.
For the past almost 30 years Justin has held positions on multiple state and national boards, committees and working groups including the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation; the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation; and the Close the Gap National Steering Committee.
Throughout his career, Justin has represented Indigenous Australians at all levels of government, forging true partnerships with allies and key stakeholders, and dedicated himself to working towards building a stronger and healthier nation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
