Run for a Cause
A Federation University team of over 80 members took part in The Ballarat Foundation ‘Run for a Cause 2019’ on Sunday 17 November. The FED University team won the Corporate Prize and covered over 750km in total.
Run for a Cause 2019 is the largest mass participation community fun run/walking event in the area. Proudly filling the void left by Run Ballarat, ‘Run for a Cause’ brings together schools, businesses and community groups to raise funds and awareness for a particular cause each year.
This year’s cause was Early Childhood and helping children start school ready to learn. The event raised money for local charities Ballarat Reads, ECKA, Ballarat Toy Library, Playgroup Victoria, Uniting, Eureka Mums and Ballarat Community Health.
In its second year Run for a Cause 2019 hosted Ballarat’s first half marathon in almost a decade and had over 2000 competitors. With a fast, flat course designed by local runners, it offered people of all abilities a scenic and challenging day out. With distances ranging from 1km to 21kms, and high levels of on course entertainment there was something for everyone.
Federation University was proud to be a partner in the event.
