Children's Centres celebrations raise funds for cancer research

Federation University's Children’s Centres celebrated the end of 2019 with families and staff from both the Mt Helen and SMB centres coming together for the annual Christmas party held at the Mt Helen Campus.

With food, live entertainment, raffles as well as children’s games and activities the evening raised a total of $5,224.33 much needed funds for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.

“Each year we look forward to bringing together families and staff from our Centres to celebrate Christmas and the end of another wonderful year in early childhood education and care”, Colin Marshall, Director of Campus Life, said. “We are also pleased to once again be supporting the important work of the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute, with families purchasing tickets to the event, with all proceeds going directly to the Institute”.

Institute Director, Professor George Kannourakis said “As a non-government funded research facility, we rely on community donations to continue our important research. We thank the Federation University Children’s Centres community for their wonderful support. Support like this makes our research possible.”
