ITS Senior Leadership Team

Sahar Oujil - Director, Information Technology Services

Sahar is responsible for the strategic development and tactical delivery of end-user support services to research, teaching, and professional staff.

Sahar's career journey began with end-user IT support in tertiary education, quickly growing to encompass training and coaching. This is where Sahar first experienced the deep satisfaction of empowering educators with the knowledge, skills and tools they needed to meaningfully integrate digital technologies into their classrooms.

Sahar is passionate about technology and education having spent 21 years working in higher education to deliver solutions that enhance the way staff and students teach, learn and work together. Sahar's skills and experience are diverse, built from her relentless pursuit of new challenges needing service support solutions that will make a real difference in higher education.

Tim O'Doherty - Manager, Service Design and Planning

Tim has been working at FedUni since 1995 commencing as an analyst programmer on student systems, moving through team leader positions to his current position.

As Manager of Service Design and Planning Tim is responsible for the enterprise architecture, overall ITS capacity and budgets.

Andrew Matheson - Manager, Corporate Services Solutions

For over a decade, Andrew has been providing FedUni with a wealth of experience in programming, application administration, application integrations, and performance tuning.

In his role as Manager, Corporate Service Solutions, Andrew is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to Service Operations, Infrastructure, Digital and eLearning, and Student and Research Solutions teams.

The primary focus of the role is to provide expert technical guidance and tactical support to all Corporate Services Solutions team leaders.

Other duties include:

  • Ensure ongoing availability, maintenance and support of the University's Administration Systems (UAS)
  • Assisting with the planning and design to ensure business requirements are met and services are delivered cost effectively to the agreed service levels
  • System optimisation and continuous improvement
  • Provide technical / tactical support and advice to the ITS team and the wider University community

Andrew's vision is to see ITS become a key part in making the current and ongoing Federation University Australia experience the best it can be for students, staff, and the wider community.

Leigh Vincent - Manager, IT Security and Risk

Leigh has been with the University since 2004 and involved in IT security during that time. In this role, Leigh as achieved qualifications in incident handling, digital forensic analysis and network and application penetration testing all of which have proven valuable in performing the security role.

While security is an extremely broad and varied field within IT, the primary focus has always been on ensuring the integrity, confidentially and availability of IT systems and services through the use of policy and procedure, technology, education and awareness and staying informed on current and future security tools and techniques and how they can be applied to the University environment.

Leigh is passionate about security and is always available to discuss security issues and concerns be they about the University or IT security in general.

Tactical approach

Through people, process and tool realignment, ITS has transformed itself into a leader in emerging technologies that engage students and support staff to attain an outstanding learning and teaching experience.

ITS comprises of several cross-functional teams supported by an underpinning Service Support layer and is governed by an overall Strategic Services and Business Solutions Framework, ensuing that the technology investment is fit for purpose and benefits realisation are forthcoming for the business.

ITS is aligned to the business by supporting the University's strategic priorities, its digital journey and associated initiatives such as BOLD, to realise business capabilities and efficiencies.
