Berwick is all landscaped grounds and modern architecture. It's the perfect environment for quiet study and keeping those stress levels down. And you’ll find everything you need on campus – library, student lounge (with table tennis and a courtyard), café, sporting facilities, health centre, non-denominational reflection room and more.
This tranquil spot is only 40km from the Melbourne CBD. Public transport makes it easy to get to (the train station is literally across the road), plus there’s heaps of student parking. If you're driving from the city, allow about an hour (or 45 minutes if you take the toll roads).
The traditional custodians for this area are the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri peoples.
How to get to campus
Berwick Campus is 40km from the Melbourne CBD. It takes 45–60 minutes to drive, depending on how much traffic there is. Our best tip? Use the toll roads.
Parking is available off Gustav Nossal Boulevard. See the campus map (PDF 1.1 MB) for car park locations and mobility routes.
Temporary disruptions
The major roadworks planned for Clyde Road will be finished in October 2026, seven months ahead of schedule. Use the disruptions map to help plan your journey.
Due to subdivision works at Berwick Healthcare, the nearby car park will have reduced capacity and access changes. Fire Hose Lane off Sir Gustav Nossal Boulevard will be closed until 10 September, but you'll still be able to access Federation University and Berwick Healthcare parking at the roundabout on Sir Gustav Nossal Boulevard. From Friday 11 September to Thursday 15 October, Fire Hose Lane will reopen and access to Berwick Healthcare at the roundabout on Sir Gustav Nossal Boulevard will be closed.
Seven bus routes stop either at campus or at the nearby Berwick Train Station:

If you're travelling to campus from the Melbourne CBD, take the Pakenham Metro train to Berwick Station. It's only a 500-metre walk from there to Federation.
If you're travelling from the east of Melbourne, get the Traralgon V/Line train. Unfortunately, V/Line doesn’t stop at Berwick Station, but you can get off at Pakenham Station and board the Pakenham Metro train to Berwick.
You'll need a myki to travel on trains.
