Study skills and uni tips

These three guides in pdf format below provide detailed advice on how to produce academic work at Federation University Australia.

The General Guide to Writing & Study Skills includes information and examples on:

  • developing research and library skills
  • developing writing skills and techniques
  • understanding academic language and culture

The General Guide to Referencing includes explanations and models for using FedUni’s four referencing styles (APA, MLA, Chicago/Turabian and Australian Harvard).  You will find clear descriptions of each style and examples of how to create in-text citations and full citations for the majority of resources you will use for your assignments.

The Assignment Layout and Appearance Guidelines provide an overview of FedUni’s expectations for formatting and presenting your assessments.

Follow the advice in these guides if no specific presentation requirements have been provided in your course for an individual piece of work. If you are unclear about any submission requirements, consult your course description, lecturer, tutor or teacher for clarification.
