Embedding academic literacy

Do some of your students struggle with structuring their ideas in their assessments? Are you frustrated that often students don't address the assessment topic? Do you wish that some students would support their claims with evidence?

Learning Skills Advisers (LSAs) provide academic literacy, learning and language support services to staff, as well as students, across the Gippsland, Horsham and Mt Helen campuses. One effective approach to developing students' academic literacy is embedding it into their courses, so that the information and resources are tailored to the specific course assignments and made available when students need them to complete their assignments.

The links below outline the research underpinning the effectiveness of embedding academic literacy, how it has been put into practice at FedUni and how to contact a Learning Skills Adviser to embed academic literacy into your course.
