CaptureSpace settings

Whilst the default settings for CaptureSpace work for the majority of cases, you have some ability to change the defaults. You can make changes to items such as the default webcam and its resolution, the quality of desktop capture, where files are stored, and the microphone to use when recording.

1. Open the “CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder” shortcut key.

Note: You must download CaptureSpace and launch it from the browser for the 1st time.

2. Click on the ‘settings’ tab of the“Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder” Console.

Tip: Capture space should appear in the bottom right hand corner

3. Next, click the SETTINGS tab, it will display information about the following:

  • Local Media Files Storage
  • Select a Webcam
  • Recording Option
  • Select a Microphone
  • Media Upload

Note: This is an important step in the process especially if your webcam or microphone are not displaying/responding

4. Next the “settings” tab will display information about the following:

  • Local Media Files Storage
Choose the location for your completed video content to be stored
  • Select a Webcam– ensure you see an image displayed from your webcam in the box to the right-hand side.
The default camera is usually correct. Select the appropriate quality of your webcam.

Note: Increasing the quality of the video stream also increases the size of the final file.

  • Recording Option for screen recording. This is the capture quality of the desktop.
CLIPP recommends 720P unless you have very fine detail.

Note: Increasing the quality of the video stream also increases the size of the final file.

  • Select a Microphone
This is to choose your microphone; the green bar should move when you speak.

  • Media Upload
This is to decide if you want the video files you have created to be deleted from your computer after they have been uploaded to Moodle/Kaltura

5. Save your chosen setting options by clicking the Save button
