How to share videos

By default videos uploaded to Kaltura videos are private and nobody but the creator of the video can see them. However, it is quite simple to embed the video into your Moodle course, as well as share the video with other Federation University staff and students.

Share a video in the shared repository.

The Kaltura shared repository allows anyone with Lecturer status in Moodle the ability to view and add your video to their Moodle shell.

1. Go to My Media via the Moodle Dashboard.

2. Click to check the checkbox to the left of the video you would like share.

3. Click on the Actions button and then select Publish.

4. Click the radio button next to Published. This will open up a list of repositories that the video can be added too. The first in the list will be the Shared repository. Click the Checkbox to the left of the title and click the Save button (you may have to scroll down the list to see the save button if you are enrolled in many Moodle shells).

5. You can confirm that your video has been shared to the Shared Repository in My Media, by checking the Published in column.

Share a video to a single Moodle shell.

There may be times when you don't want to share a video with all staff in Moodle. For this you can share a video to a specific Moodle shell.

1. Go to My Media via the Moodle Dashboard.

2. Click to check the checkbox to the left of the video you would like share.

3. Click on the Actions button and then select Publish.

4. Click the radio button next to Published. This will open up a list of repositories that the video can be added too, find the Moodle shell you would like the video shared with in the list. Click the Checkbox to the left of the title and click the Save button (you may have to scroll down the list to see the save button if you are enrolled in many Moodle shells).

The video will now appear in that Moodle shell's Media Gallery.

5. You can confirm that your video has been shared in Moodle shells Media Gallery. When the video is shared with a Moodle shell the Published in section will display the words in context and the number of repositories shared to. At this stage My Media is not able to determine the name of the shell. To find the name of the Moodle shell. Select the checkbox to the left of the video and then click the Actions button. Click Publish.

6. Below the list of available galleries you will see Published in. The galleries using that video will listed.
