The ELSP Program (English Language Support Program)
About the ELSP
The Program is specifically designed to provide assistance to international students who are making the transition to their first year of undergraduate or post-graduate study in Australia.
Students studying with the Faculties of Science and Technology, Business, Health, and Education & Arts have access to a range of English language support initiatives that foster an understanding of the expectations of the Australian academic environment and enable the further development of their academic practices.
ELSP runs weekly classes and regular workshop events that focus on areas such as writing assignments and study skills. Students are also offered online support via access to online classes and resources in a specialised Moodle site.
Who can benefit from the Program?
- international students who are newly arrived from overseas
- graduates of the English for Academic Purposes program
What do the classes cover?
ELSP offers classes that are purposefully connected, and directly relevant, to students’ individual degree assignments. Topics include:
- Communication with academics and fellow students
- How to approach assignments
- Learning in lecture and tutorial environments
- Academic writing (report and essay writing, summarising and paraphrasing
- Critical thinking
- Everything in between
