Dr Ean Ooi

Many problems in engineering are complex in nature and their behaviour can only be predicted using numerical simulations. Dr Ooi’s research has developed niche applications in problems pertaining to fracture mechanics and unbounded domains. This covers the disciplines of computational mechanics/engineering including geomechanics, structures and coupled field problems. His methods aid engineers to make more informed decisions in the design and maintenance of infrastructure and improves their understanding of the behaviour of materials at smaller length scales where fracture is an important factor to be considered.

He is available to supervise HDR students on topics relating to:

  • Computational mechanics
  • Fracture mechanics
  • Multi-scale modelling
  • Coupled-field problems
