Improving policy and practice in vocational education and training VET

This research priority area uses multi-disciplinary expertise to examine and improve policy and practice in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, which covers learning and training in TAFE and private Registered Training Organisations, in community organisations and in workplaces.

Relationship of vocational education and training with the economy and industry

This project could examine the role of VET in structural change in the economy; or could examine VET’s role in improving economic participation for disadvantaged groups such as indigenous people.

Supervisors: Prof Erica Smith, Dr Jackie Tuck, Assoc Prof Alex Millmow or Assoc Prof Annette Foley (depending on chosen focus).

Better management and professional practice in the VET sector

This project could examine governance practices, regulatory reform and policy settings; or could examine ways of improving the capability of the VET workforce in teaching and other capacities.

Supervisors: Prof Erica Smith, Dr Jackie Tuck or Assoc Prof Annette Foley (depending on chosen focus).
