About face: early twentieth century typography and design at the Ballarat Technical Art School*
Elise's research will examine customised design and typographical work generated at the Ballarat Technical Art School during the early twentieth century.
Primary documentation will inform research into the curriculum and delivery methodologies of the school, perceived successes and failures, and how it compares to other Victorian technical art schools at the time.
The work of students will be assessed in order to determine the relevant influences upon it, including: art and design movements and practices, social and political influences, and the individual's place within a broader cultural context.
*The Ballarat Technical Art School is an antecedent institute of the Arts Academy, Federation University Australia
