Professor John Yearwood

Professor John Yearwood is Dean of the School of Science, Information Technology and Engineering at Federation University Australia.
He is also Director of The Centre for Informatics and Applied Optimization (CIAO) where he has general leadership over the research programs of CIAO and the Research Groups and Laboratories.
Professor Yearwood holds a Bachelor of Science with first class Honours and Diploma of Education from Monash University, a Master of Science from the University of Sydney and was awarded his Doctorate of Philosophy from RMIT for a Thesis entitled “Case-based Retrieval of Text Cases”.
Professor Yearwood has had a long association with Federation University Australia, commencing as a lecturer in mathematics before being promoted to Senior Lecturer and then becoming an Associate Professor. Professor Yearwood was awarded an Australian Research Council Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship to work in Argumentation and Narrative in 2001.
Professor Yearwood has a significant publication record, having published over 160 refereed journal, book chapter and conference articles and has supervised Masters and PhD research students through to completion.
He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Research and Practice in Information Technology, and a reviewer for the Australian Journal of Information Systems, as well as benng a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Australian Computer Society (ACS), and a Director of JustSys Pty.Ltd. and Datascreen Pty.Ltd
