James O'Brien is a PhD scholar and physiotherapist from Adelaide. His research project focuses on injury prevention in elite soccer players, investigating the barriers and facilitators to successfully implementing injury prevention programmes. Importantly, his work is looking across different contexts, and therefore he is including data from four different settings. "I'm really fortunate to be working with the ACRISP team. The group's depth of knowledge and experience in the field of sports injury prevention is phenomenal, and offers me the perfect support network to conduct high-quality research at an international level."
James has been working on his PhD for just 18 months, but has already published three peer-reviewed articles in the world's leading sports and injury journals - Sports Medicine, Injury Prevention and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. He also presented his work at the 2014 IOC World Conference on the Prevention of Injury & Illness in sport in Monaco.
