The nations of Timor-Leste and Australia have a long standing relationship – and the best of our interactions have at their core “people linking with people”.
For many years, individual FedUni staff, as well as community organisations such as, Friends of Ainaro, have engaged in capacity building initiatives.
Yet more than this, as a regional university with a long history in geology and mining, FedUni well understands the importance and challenges of sustainable resource development. Also understood is the need for growing enabling disciplines such as teacher education and nursing.
For this reason, we are embarking upon a comprehensive capacity-building program with our Timorese counterparts, tapping into both “the existing” and “the emerging”.
FedUni’s Timor-Leste program is auspiced by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation, Professor Frank Stagnitti, with Dr Janette Corcoran holding responsibility for liaison.
