Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary)
Regional Schools Outreach Officer
University of Ballarat
What are some of your career highlights?
While I have only just begun my career, I have been very fortunate to be a part of such a welcoming group that strives towards excellence and encourages us to research professional development opportunities and attend and learn as much as we can. Last week I was lucky enough to go to Hawker Brownlow, a four day Teaching and Learning Conference in Caulfield, hearing educational specialists from Australia, America and the UK.
Describe the most enjoyable and challenging aspects of your job
The most enjoyable part of my job is working with young people. Raising their aspirations towards VCE completion and to help them start to think about what happens after high school and put university on the radar.
What are your strongest memories while you were studying at the University of Ballarat?
I have so many fond memories of studying at UB. From the GDE welcome dinner, to the GDE end of year dinner and karaoke, and of course graduation, also not forgetting O-Week. I have also loved being a part of the Regional Schools Outreach Program as a student volunteer, not to mention all the experiences that being a student teacher on placement brings! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time studying at the University of Ballarat and have memories that will last a life time.
Do you have any advice about life after study to pass on to current students?
My advice to current students is make sure you love what you do! Enjoy your work and enjoy your rest but most of all make sure you have a balance!
