Biography

Dr Lauren Fortington is a senior research fellow at the Australian Centre for Research into Injury in Sport and its Prevention (ACRISP), focused on injury epidemiology and injury prevention.

Lauren’s research looks at how to collect, analyse and report injury data in different sports settings to best understand the impact and prevention of injuries. She is currently conducting investigations into injury in elite and community Australian sport including cricket, rugby union, rugby sevens and Australian football. She is also leading studies of safety in community sports organisations, aimed towards prevention and best management of serious and fatal events in sport, including a study on the implementation of the State Government’s defibrillator for sports clubs and facilities program.
