More than 50 students from around Australia and the world will be able to get a scholarship to study at Federation University Australia as part of new Commonwealth Government program to encourage more people to study, live and work in regional Australia.   

Federation University will receive almost $2.8 million to provide 56 Destination Australia scholarships for students to study at the Ballarat, Gippsland and Wimmera campuses.  

This includes 25 domestic and 12 international student scholarship at the Ballarat campus, 13 domestic and five international student scholarships at the Gippsland campus, and one scholarship for a domestic student at the Wimmera campus.  

The scholarships are worth $15,000 a year and are designed to help students cover the study and living expenses associated with studying a Certificate IV to Doctorate level qualification at a regional university or TAFE.    

It is anticipated students will be able to apply for a Destination Australia scholarship at Federation from December. Eligible students must live in regional areas.     

Up to 1,200 scholarships will be allocated nationally as part of the $19.5 million national campaign.
