Federation success in Wurreker Awards

Posted: Monday 23 September 2019

Federation University Australia’s strong record in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education has been recognised in the 2019 Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Wurreker Awards.

Federation was declared runner up in two major categories – the Innovative Koorie Learner Pathways TAFE Award and the Public Sector Employer Award.

The Wurreker Awards are an important part of the University’s approach to growing success in education and training. They also are a celebration of how high quality training can open up new directions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Awards recognise Public Sector Employers who have made a demonstrable contribution to the employment and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, built their organisation’s capacities to engage with the community and provide a culturally safe workplace or are recognised by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as leaders in the employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their organisations.
