Federal Education and Training Minister Birmingham in education forum at Berwick

Posted: Monday 14 May 2018
Federation University Australia hosted an education forum chaired by Senator Simon Birmingham, Federal Minister for Education and Training, at the Berwick Campus on Monday, 14 May.

The visit, facilitated by Jason Wood, Federal Member for La Trobe, saw the Minister meet members of FedUni’s executive team, high school principals, community leaders and students.

“I am very thankful that the Minister has chosen to visit our new Berwick Campus and we are grateful to Mr Wood for facilitating the forum at such a crucial time for tertiary education,” Professor Helen Bartlett, Vice-Chancellor, said.

“The community in Berwick and surrounding suburbs have embraced our regional model of education and the renewed opportunities we are providing in Melbourne’s south-eastern corridor.”

Professor Bartlett invited the Federal Member to tour the campus last month and view its strong growth and exciting potential.

“Since FedUni took full control of the Berwick Campus four months ago we have seen a steady rise in student numbers and increased interest from the community,” Professor Bartlett said.

“I welcome the opportunity for Minister Birmingham to witness the investment we have made in the Berwick Campus with the desire to grow student numbers.

“The Minister interacted with our students and feeder schools to hear first-hand what a difference our presence is making in the region,” Professor Bartlett said.

“The University is committed to the delivery of high-quality programs and courses for students throughout Berwick and south-eastern Melbourne.”
