FedUni hosting Schools Outreach program at Ballarat campuses

Posted: Tuesday 28 November 2017

Up to 200 secondary school students from 13 schools across Western Victoria are enjoying university life in Ballarat as part of the popular annual FedUni Schools Outreach program.

“Our Schools Outreach camps are an ideal introduction for Year Eight secondary school students to experience university life,” Christine Holmes, FedUni Schools Outreach Coordinator, said.

“Students will discover a little about themselves and may even identify their dream job as they participate in a range of activities.

“We also have student ambassadors who volunteer their time on camp.

“Each ambassador will stay with one group of school students throughout the camp, building relationships and talking about their experience of being a FedUni student.”

Day one of each camp will be held at the SMB Campus, where students will experience academic taster sessions in Engineering, Hair and Beauty and Cookery.

The students stay overnight in the on-campus accommodation for an authentic university experience.

Day two of each camp will be held at Mt Helen Campus, where students will experience academic taster sessions in History and Drama and have fun exploring the campus on an Amazing Race.

Participating schools in the final week are:

Warracknabeal Secondary College

Wedderburn P-12 College

Birchip P-12 School

Kaniva College

Charlton College

Wycheproof P-12 College
