Scholarships

The Faculty of Science and Technology supports our students with a range of scholarships up to $12,000 undertaking selected programs. All domestic students who meet eligibility requirements are strongly encouraged to apply.

Application submission

Scholarships applications for 2017 are now open.

Scholarships available

IBM® Earn as you Learn Scholarships - from $35,500 (a combination of scholarship funds and paid employment)

All students accepted into the Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional Practice) are automatically awarded this scholarship (separate application for this scholarship is not required). Students will receive a minimum of $35,500 in scholarships and salary as part of the program.

Women in Information Technology / Women in Engineering Scholarships - $12,000*

These scholarships (two available) are awarded to women entering undergraduate information technology or engineering programs with the highest ATAR score above 80.

Engineering Scholarship - $12,000*

This scholarship is awarded to a person entering undergraduate engineering programs with the highest ATAR score above 80.

Mathematical Sciences Scholarship - $12,000*

This scholarship is awarded to a person entering undergraduate mathematics programs with the highest ATAR score above 80.

Information Technology Scholarship - $12,000*

This scholarship is awarded to a person entering undergraduate information technology programs with the highest ATAR score above 80.

Indigenous Student Scholarship - $12,000*

This scholarship is awarded to an applicant of indigenous descent** entering an undergraduate degree program in the Faculty of Science and Technology with the highest ATAR score above 80.

**A student will be considered to be an Indigenous person for the purpose of this Scholarship where the person (a) is of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and (b) identifies as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and (c) is accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which he/she lives or has lived.

Faculty of Science and Technology Scholarships - $3,000*

These scholarships (up to six available) will be awarded to the applicant with the highest ATAR above 60 in each of the eligible Faculty of Science and Technology undergraduate programs, excluding Honours, who did not receive a Faculty scholarship of a higher value.

* Scholarships are paid pro rata, per semester, after the HECS-Help census date.

Equity scholarships

These scholarships will be awarded to applicants entering an undergraduate degree program (including Honours programs), in the Faculty of Science and Technology, who did not receive a Faculty scholarship of a higher value. Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and awarded on the applicant's demonstrated financial need.

Students applying for an equity scholarship must provide a brief case (no more than 500 words) to demonstrate their financial need.

Honours scholarships - $2,000

These scholarships will be awarded to applicants entering the Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (Honours), Bachelor of Science (Honours) or the Bachelor of Computing (Honours).  Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis according to a combination of the applicant's academic performance within their undergraduate degree, demonstrated financial need and/or the physical resources required to undertake their honours project.

Selection criteria

Scholarship recipients will be determined by the Faculty of Science and Technology using a combination of student ATAR scores and/or supplementary supporting information as identified in the application form.

External organisations also offer scholarship opportunities from time to time (for example the Asthma Foundation) - make sure you research major organisations relating to your field of study for potential scholarships.
