Biography

Gour received the B.Sc. Eng. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1993 and Masters and PhD degrees in Information Technology from the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University, in 1999 and 2003, respectively.  He also successfully completed the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, Monash University, Australia in 2005. Previously he was a senior lecturer at the Gippsland School of Information Technology, Monash University. He is currently a senior lecturer at the same school, Faculty of Science and Technology, Federation University Australia. He has published around 100 peer-reviewed research publications including seventeen international peer reviewed reputed journal papers and received a prestigious Australian Research Council (ARC) linkage project grant in 2011. He has successfully supervised eight PhD and three Masters by research students from the commencement to completion. One of his PhD students received both Mollie Holman Doctoral and Faculty of Information Technology Doctoral Medal in 2009. 

He was nominated for the selection of the best researcher of the Gippsland Campus, Monash University, Australia for 2007 from the Gippsland School of Information Technology.  His research interest includes multimedia signal processing, wireless communication and social networks, simulation modelling and artificial intelligence.

He has also published three international refereed conference papers on teaching and learning topics.  He taught a number of subjects such as introduction to multimedia and Internet technology, multimedia development, advanced multimedia and networked technology, system analysis and design, web programming, software engineering, eCommerce and enterprise programming. He is a director of postgraduate study, HDR coordinator and a member of IEEE.
