Workshop on Metric Bounds and Transversality (WoMBaT) 2017

The second Workshop on Metric Bounds and Transversality (WoMBaT 2017) took place in Melbourne 30 November – 2 December 2017. The workshop was co-organised by the Centre for Informatics and Applied Optimisation (CIAO) at FedUni and RMITOpt group at RMIT University. The program included keynote lectures by four international leaders in the field from Germany, Chile and Italy and 13 invited talks by representatives from Australian universities, including five researchers and a PhD student from CIAO.

The topics of the workshop included error bounds, metric (sub-)regularity, Aubin property and calmness, transversality of collections of sets, subdifferential characterisations and applications of these properties to estimating the convergence of fundamental optimisation algorithms.

Associate Professor Alex Kruger, Research Director, CIAO said "WoMBaT provides a great opportunity to bring international and Australian researchers and their students together for knowledge sharing and collaboration development in mathematics."

The third WoMBaT is scheduled for December 2018.
