Research interests

My main areas of interest focus on adolescence, adolescent development, personality (particularly introversion) and individual differences. I am particularly interested in the relationship between personality and coping with life experiences and challenges during adolescence and early adulthood. Other areas of interest to me are adjusting to chronic health issues, eating/weight issues, intimacy and independence and psychoanalytic/psychodynamic theories.

Examples of supervised projects

  • The relationship between stress, adult attachment, eating and body weight in adult women
  • Determining the barriers to a healthy lifestyle in a rural Victoria population
  • An examination of community mental health clinicians' experiences in implementing Family Consultation into routine clinical practice
