Research interests

Sport and Recreation Spatial integrates data about participation, sport and recreation facilities, population demographics and population health from multiple data custodians.

From an industry perspective this provides a strong evidence base and an increased capacity for research, strategic planning, and development of participation programs and facilities.

The integration of data is used to develop specific research reports as well as programming on a national geographic information system (GIS), for presenting spatial data relevant to all levels of the sport and recreation sector. The research program includes understanding participation levels and trends; influences on participation, the health benefits of sports participation and the nexus between facilities, participation and the population.
