Health and physical education
Are you passionate about health and education? Do you take exercise and sport seriously?
The Bachelor of Health and Physical Education combines the theory of education, embedded with the practical discipline of health and physical education. You will learn about contemporary curriculum design and assessment for teaching in Health and Physical Education. Areas of study include applied sports science, human development and nutrition, health and physical activity, creative movement, and games pedagogy.
You will be qualified to teach health and PE in secondary schools and you’ll also specialise in another teaching method selected from English, history, maths, psychology, science or outdoor education.
To teach outdoor education at secondary school level, you can study outdoor and environmental education as an alternative teaching method in the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (a minor in outdoor education) or undertake a double degree, Bachelor of Health and Physical Education / Bachelor of Outdoor and Environmental Education (a major in outdoor education).
With a common first year, The Bachelor of Sport, Physical and Outdoor Education (entry requirements not ATAR-based) can be used as a pathway to enter the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education program in second year. Eligibility to transfer is dependent on performance in first year studies.
