Biography

Jimmy is a practicing visual artist whose recent works have engaged in the exploration of place as an "outsider." 'Pasakos plays the role of the outsider, who, through frequent visitation forms ideas, opinions and a deep appreciation of place. The concept of viewing a place through a portal, of taking a peek, had occurred to the artist when travelling to regional Victoria on holiday……' Essay by curator Angie Taylor Warrnambool Art Gallery 2011. This sense of place is important to the artist as his childhood memories and previous works are based on the Docklands of Melbourne an area of where the artist would play. Spending much of his childhood exploring the industrial docklands of Melbourne, whose polluted artificial landscape highly influenced his earlier artwork, Pasakos now finds himself living and working in Ballarat,in regional Victoria. He has found inspiration in his new environment, in the natural landscape, history and architecture. Jimmy co-ordinates the Printmaking and Digital Art Departments for the undergraduate degree courses at SEA.
