PhD Topic Summary
Engaging young people living in out-of-home care in the decision-making processes affecting their lives.
This research topic evolved from the Inner Gippsland Children & Youth Area Partnership’s focus on the voices of children and young people in out-of-home care. The research question asks what we can learn from front-line workers about the opportunities and constraints in engaging young people in out-of-home care in the decisions which affect their lives.
This will be an Action Research study of out-of-home care worker perspectives in Inner Gippsland, using a critical theory framework.
Evidence gathered as part of this study will be used to identify interventions aimed at bringing about attitudinal, organisational and systemic change in Inner Gippsland’s out-of-home care sector.
