PhD Topic Summary

The aim of the project; “Thriving in the Pyrenees Shire: Co-designing integrated systems to support families and young people” is to improve opportunities for families and young people living in the Pyrenees Shire. The need for the project was identified by the Central Highlands Children and Youth Area Partnership (CHCYAP). Service providers identified the need for research to identify and pilot innovative service delivery approaches to better meet the needs of individuals and families with multiple and complex needs. Particular difficulties in accessing specialist and targeted services for Pyrenees Shire residents include limited public transport, gaps in services and a service system that is difficult to navigate for both families and mainstream service providers. The project is place based and will use co-design approaches to engage families and service providers in developing a deep understanding of the issues in context and to design new approaches to support families with complex needs.
