Education studies

Education Studies programs provide you with in-depth insight and understanding of the field of education. You will build critical thinking, academic writing and analytical skills along and develop an awareness of modern educational settings.

Bachelor of Education Studies

The Bachelor of Education Studies is a generalist degree that prepares you for work in a variety of learning settings and enables you to discover more about the education system.

The opportunities for graduates are broad - in your third year you can undertake the Certificate IV in Training and Education allowing you to teach in Adult Learning settings or qualify you as an Education Support worker (Integration Aide).

You will also be well equipped to work in other educational settings such as vacation care, homework centres, tutoring in private colleges and home tutoring, recreation and leisure settings, training and professional development providers, local council educational agencies and youth assistance programs.

Pathways

Students who perform well in their first year may transfer into the second year of a Bachelor of Education program to qualify as a teacher and gain registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).

This degree can also pathway into the Master of Education Studies; Master of Teaching (Primary), Master of Teaching (Secondary) or Master of Social Work (Qualifying).

Master of Education Studies

The Master of Education Studies is for education professionals who are ready to lead educational practice, policy and research. Offered part-time and online, this course enables you to further your career in education while you work. If you are interested in delving deep into one area of education that interests you, you can combine research and coursework. Alternatively, you can choose to broaden your areas of knowledge and expertise in topics affecting the classroom such as Disability and Inclusion or Educational Leadership.
