Faculty of Education and Arts

About us

John McDonald, Dean - School of Education and Arts "Welcome to the Faculty of Education and Arts. Our faculty offers qualifications from certificate and diploma through to degree and postgraduate levels in education (early childhood, primary, secondary and vocational education and training), the liberal arts (humanities and social sciences and professional writing and editing), community services and rural social welfare, and visual and performing arts. Our programs operate from campuses at Mt Helen, SMB, the Arts Academy in Camp Street, Horsham and Gippsland and in partnership with TAFE institutes, community education providers and schools across Victoria and interstate.

We are a diverse faculty with a shared commitment to the highest quality learning and teaching, research that makes a difference, and community engagement. We are proud of our contribution to the University's 5 Star Award for Teaching.

Our academic staff and postgraduate students conduct nationally and internationally significant research. Our administrative and technical staff provide outstanding customer service. Through our work, the Faculty of Education and Arts transforms lives, schools and communities."

5-star success

Small, smart and successful. That's us! Contrary to what you might expect from a regionally-based university, we offer distinct advantages and performance benefits over larger metropolitan universities.

In 2013, we achieved a five-star rating for 'Teaching Quality', 'Positive Graduate Outcomes' and 'Cultural Diversity of the Student Body', plus a four-star rating for 'Overall Satisfaction' and 'Getting a Full-time Job'.

At the same time, we achieved the distinction of being the only Victorian university to score the Good Universities Guide's top rating for teaching quality for five years consecutively.
