An introduction to your nursing courses for both flexible and face-to-face students. You will mix with your peers and become familiar with your program by meeting academic teaching staff for each course. The teacher will then guide you through the appropriate Moodle sites, briefly outline the course expectations and assessment tasks as well as discuss inherent and professional placement behaviour standards.

10:00am - 10:30am Psych Session
Academics will show you how to navigate your way around the Psychology structure (major, minor and electives) and the essentials you need to know for example what you can expect to do each year, options for minors, the courses moving semesters that you need to be aware of (personality, current issues, cognitive psychology), getting involved with the psych society.
12:00pm - 12:30pm Your Support I
Learn how you can get financial support and apply for student bursaries & scholarships.
12:30pm - 1:30pm Food Truck Lunch
Food Truck lunch and a chance to mingle with your mentor groups and other students!

This session will introduce you to the clinical, laboratory and online learning spaces. It will include discussion around student code of conduct, responsibilities and expectations, on-line study etiquette as well as laboratory requirements and learning experiences. You will be shown how to engage with your class and academic teaching staff through the use of Moodle discussion forum and virtual classrooms in the computer lab as well as orientation to the nursing and science labs. Gaining a thorough understanding of Moodle is particularly vital for those students studying via flexible delivery.

    Nursing Orientation Session 3 (morning)Following information will be delivered across the morning (9:30am – 12:00pm) and afternoon (1:30pm – 3:00pm) session: In addition to gaining an understanding of university expectations around your Nursing assessment tasks, you will have an opportunity to start on one of your first assessment tasks and apply the following skills hands-on in a supportive environment:
  1. Analyse the topic and learn how to maximise your marks
  2. Work with your fellow students and share ideas on the potential content of the assessment
  3. Find relevant sources that you can use for this task
  4. Plan the structure of your assessment
  5. After this session, you will be ready to launch into all of your assessment tasks.

Learn how to incorporate evidence into your writing and avoid plagiarism Study Skills Q&A – This is an opportunity to ask any burning questions about studying at university.
