Time for a change?

What to do when you're thinking about changing your program or taking time out - Time for a change (pdf, 916kb)

  1. Identify reasons for change such as: uni feels too big, is unfriendly; disappointed with the program; it's difficult to balance work, study, friends and family; relationships, health issues, feeling homesick.
  2. Talk it over. Support available for you includes: Your tutor or program coordinator; PASS - Peer Assisted Study Sessions; ASK - a group of student leaders, who've demonstrated abilities in academic writing, research, trained to support first years; FedReady - a five day intensive preparatory program; LSAs - Learning Skills Advisors; Careers and Employment; Counsellors; Chaplain; Student Advisory Service at Mt Helen or MUGSU at Gippsland; Health Centre at Mt Helen Campus (or your own doctor); International support.
  3. Options. You can choose to: Withdraw - if you withdraw before the census dates you will not be liable for HECS for the current semester; change faculties within the uni; or take leave from studies. You can talk to your course co-ordinator or a counsellor about these options.
  4. Follow through

Before you make any changes, it's important that you understand all the options.
