Recreation facilities

Conference delegates may also have access to a number of the Universities recreation facilities including a heated indoor pool, fully equipped fitness centre and gymnasium, sports oval, tennis courts and bushwalking trails. In fact, the qualified staff at UniSports can organise and deliver lifestyle and fitness sessions as part of the conference program!

Accommodation facilities

Federation University Australia offers a number of conference accommodation options. Comfortable accommodation is available in the Halls of Residence located on campus, a short walking distance from the University's conference facilities. During the University summer vacation period, over 500 people can be accommodated at any one time. At other times availability of rooms will fluctuate according to demand.

The university also has two properties; Elsworth Street and Jemacra Place, just a 5 minute drive from the Mt Helen Campus and a number of apartments at Camp Street Campus in the CBD available. These off-campus properties offer different and unique conference accommodation.

FedUni Living staff are on duty in the Administration Office during business hours and a duty staff person is always available for all after hours enquiries or emergencies.

Public transport to/from Ballarat and the Mt Helen Campus is available on an hourly basis from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays. The bus service runs directly past both the Elsworth Street and Jemacra Place properties.

Mt Helen Campus (Peter Lalor Hall and Bella Guerin Hall)

Peter Lalor and Bella Guerin Halls are both located on campus at Mt Helen, and provide single rooms with shared facilities. Most bed/study rooms offer a picturesque view of the campus and its scenic surroundings. Rooms are well heated with spacious cupboards and carpet throughout.

The collegiate style of accommodation has shared bathroom facilities and a modern, fully equipped kitchen for the preparation of light meals and snacks. Crockery, cutlery and glassware can be provided. Free laundry and ironing facilities are available in all areas.

The Living Learning Complex, located near the FedUni Living Administration Office, offers guests an area for recreation, be it a relaxing game of pool, a quiet spot to watch your favourite television program or a comfortable area to have group celebrations or meetings.

Barbecue facilities in both Halls also provide an opportunity to make the most of our idyllic bushland setting, with a relaxed and casual ending to a busy day.

Car parking is conveniently located within the residential area.

A number of services, options and packages are available for guests, including linen, meals and housekeeping, creating a tailored experience to suit your needs.

Off-campus accommodation options

Elsworth Street is an exciting new environmentally friendly facility, located just 10 minutes drive to Mt Helen Campus and the CBD. Comprising a mix of one bedroom studios to four bedroom self contained apartments with data to all bed/study rooms, the property also boasts a large communal lounge area with full cooking facilities on the ground floor, separate laundry, stylish landscaped courtyards and secure undercover parking for guests. The design and construction of Elsworth Street has been facilitated in such a way to reduce the consumption of new materials, water and energy. Elsworth Street is a Water Wise Community.

Jemacra Place is community living at its best. A mix of 5 and 6 bedroom houses in a new residential court located in Mt Clear, approximately 1.5kms from Mt Helen Campus. A five minute walk has you on the steps of Midvale Shopping Centre with chemist, butcher, supermarket, post office, bank, take-away shops and salon. Jemacra Place was also designed with environmental sustainability in mind and is a water wise community.

Camp Street is located above the contemporary Arts Academy campus just minutes from restaurants, nightclubs and shopping strips. The apartments and studios have state of the art fittings, are fully furnished and provide students with breathtaking balcony views overlooking the city and beyond to landmarks such as Eureka Stockade and Mt Buninyong. There is a large communal kitchen and living area for students use and an option for undercover parking with resident only 24-hour access.
